Today, opening the Google Play Store on my Google Pixel and going into my apps and games, I found a really odd update. It is called Carrier Services.
It seems to have been released for Google devices such as the Pixel and Nexus, but we don't know what it is really for.
From the information shown, we can deduce that it is an Android service that helps phone carriers use the latest developments in networking. It also includes support for the Android messaging app. It should therefore relate to the RCS standard, so I recommend updating and not paying much attention to this service, not least because no visible icons or home-screen shortcuts will be installed.
