Oppo has taken the Find X10 series beyond China. From 21 October, the Find X10 and Find X10 Pro Max are also available in Italy, in step with the global launch. Prices start at €1,399.99 and rise to €1,799.99 for the Pro Max, a sharp jump on the previous generation.
Prices in Italy
Italian outlets report the same figures. The Pro Max, sold only with 512 GB, costs €1,799.99. The standard Find X10 starts at €1,399.99 with 256 GB and goes up to €1,599.99 if you choose the 512 GB version.
MediaWorld is among the first high-street retailers to list them. There are small differences in the price of the base Find X10 between European countries: in Spain, for example, the 12/256 GB version is listed at €1,399. We could not find a confirmed price in Swiss francs for Switzerland.
The comparison with the past matters. A year ago the Find X9 reached Europe at €999 and the Find X9 Pro at €1,299. The new base model therefore costs about €400 more than its predecessor.
What changes on the Pro Max
The flagship has three rear sensors of 200 megapixels, developed with Hasselblad, and is built around the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro chip. Charging reaches 80 W wired and 50 W wireless. In Europe the Pro Max is offered in a single configuration, with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.
The less welcome news concerns the battery. The European version has a typical capacity of 7,150 mAh, against 8,000 mAh for the model sold in China. Versions for global markets also drop the 16 GB RAM configuration.
Launch offers
Oppo is accompanying the debut with a few promotions:
- a €150 voucher that could be had by paying €0.99, usable from 21 October to 30 November; the purchase window closed on 25 October, so it is worth checking whether it is still active;
- trade-in discounts in high-street stores: €200 on the Pro Max 512 GB, €100 on the Find X10 512 GB and €200 on the Find X10 256 GB;
- for pre-orders in the European market, a free gift of your choice among the Oppo Pad 5, the Oppo Watch X3 and a Hasselblad teleconverter, with offers valid until 28 October.
Offers vary from channel to channel, so the final price should be checked on the Oppo Store or with the retailer.
Who it’s for
The Pro Max speaks to those who put photography first and want an Android with telephoto and ultra-wide lenses on a par with the main sensor. The base Find X10 is a less clear proposition: at €1,399.99 it competes with the top models from Samsung and Google, which here have more widespread service coverage and an already established update policy. Anyone with a Find X9 has no strong reason to switch.
What we think
The European price is the real story of this launch. Oppo is asking the sort of money a direct rival to Apple and Samsung flagships would, but delivers a smaller battery than the Chinese model and less RAM at the top of the range. These choices make sense from the point of view of costs and certification, less so from that of someone spending €1,800.
In its favour is the consistency of the camera hardware: three 200 MP sensors are a proposition with no equivalent on the market. Whether the real-world results measure up will be shown by full reviews. Until then, our advice is not to be swayed by launch gifts and to compare the real price, trade-in included, with that of the rivals.
