🔄 Last updated: 26 August 2026 — prices checked on our Skontissimo comparison tool across Amazon, MediaWorld, Unieuro, Euronics, Comet, Yeppon and other Italian shops.
These days, under €200 buys far more than an "emergency" phone: 120 Hz AMOLED displays, batteries of 5,000 mAh or more and 50-108 MP cameras are now the norm even at this price. The real issue lies elsewhere: for the very same model, the price gap between one shop and another often exceeds €40-100.
That is why this guide gives you the real prices recorded on 26 August 2026 by our multi-shop monitoring, along with the all-time low for each model: you can see at a glance where it pays to buy and whether today's price is really a good one.

At €199.90 on the official Motorola store it sits right at the limit of the budget, but a rating of 4.4 from over 1,100 reviews confirms it is worth it.

Our recommendation
Best buy overall: the Redmi Note 14 at €159 — the most complete spec sheet in its class at the lowest price.
If you want the new model: the Redmi Note 15 at €161, with twice the storage of its rivals.
If you want Samsung: the Galaxy A17 5G from Unieuro or Euronics — not from Amazon right now, where it costs €100 more.
With a budget of €200 to €500 the options improve considerably: you will find them in our guide to the best mid-range smartphones, while for the very best there is the ranking of flagships.
What is the best smartphone under €200 in August 2026?
According to our survey of 26 August, the best balance is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 at €159 from Unieuro: a 120 Hz AMOLED screen, 108 MP and a 5,500 mAh battery have no rivals at this price. If you prefer the 2026 model, the Redmi Note 15 costs just €2 more on eBay.
Is it worth buying cheap smartphones on Amazon?
Not always: in this price range the retail chains are often more aggressive. Today the Galaxy A17 5G costs €159.99 at Unieuro against €279 on Amazon, and the Redmi Note 15 costs less at MediaWorld than on Amazon. The only one in our ranking with its best price on Amazon is the Honor 200 Lite.
Do these phones have NFC for paying with your smartphone?
Yes for the Redmi Note 14 (confirmed by its spec sheet) and for the Samsung Galaxy A series; for the other models, check the spec sheet of the specific variant sold in Italy, because some cheap global versions lack it.
