eufy Indoor Cam C120: 2K indoor HomeKit camera with sound detection

The Indoor Cam C120 is the camera I have in my study. No PTZ, no motor, no noise. 2K, HomeKit, sound detection. Under 40 euros. If you don't need motorisation and want an indoor camera that simply disappears, this is the one.

eufy Indoor Cam C120: fixed 2K indoor camera with HomeKit Secure Video and sound detection
The Indoor Cam C120: fixed 2K, HomeKit Secure Video, sound detection. The silent indoor camera for bedrooms and living rooms.

The philosophy: fewer features, more silence

The C120 is the fixed version of the eufy indoor line. No motor, no PTZ, no noise. Just a 2K camera that stays pointed where you put it. If you're coming from the Indoor Cam E220 with its PTZ motor, your first thought is "so what's the point?". The answer: most home use cases, where you know exactly what you want to frame and don't need to follow anyone. A fixed view, a 125° diagonal lens, and that's it.

HomeKit Secure Video, capped at 1080p

The C120 also supports HomeKit Secure Video: end-to-end encrypted clips stored in iCloud, with full integration into the iOS Home app. As with the E220, HomeKit limits the resolution to 1080p (not 2K) — if you want native 2K, you have to use the eufy app. For most Apple users at home this isn't a real problem: the "I see the event, confirm on the iPhone" flow works just the same.

Image quality

2K sensor (2304×1296), 125° field of view. Good daytime brightness, excellent exposure even with windows behind the subject (HDR does its job). Infrared night vision up to about 7–8 metres, clean black and white. There is no colour night vision, which is normal at this price.

Sound detection

The AI recognises categories of sound: a baby crying, a dog barking, glass breaking. For use as a baby monitor it's a useful feature, and the fact that the camera is fixed and silent makes it preferable to the E220 for the rooms of light sleepers. False positives from music and TV need to be tuned in the settings.

Storage

MicroSD up to 128 GB (not included) or centralised storage via HomeBase 3. No subscription. No monthly fee.

Real limits

The main one is the fixed lens. The camera has a small manual tilt/swivel adjustment on the base, but once it's pointed, it stays there. If you need to follow someone or cover a wide area, go for the E220 with its PTZ motor. The second: HomeKit caps the resolution at 1080p (not 2K).

When the C120 is the right choice

For a baby monitor in a quiet room, it is the best choice in the range: HomeKit plus zero noise. For a study or office, where you just want to see whether anyone comes in, it's perfect. For a general area needing wide coverage, step up to the E220.

Frequently asked questions

Does it really work without a microSD card? Yes, with HomeKit Secure Video the clips go to iCloud (iCloud+). Without HomeKit or a microSD card, clips aren't saved (live notifications only).

What's the difference from the E220? The E220 has motorised PTZ + AI tracking and costs about €5 more, but it makes noise when it moves. The C120 is fixed and silent. Choose according to whether you need PTZ or not.

What's the difference from the C210? The C210 is 1080p PTZ with a siren, no HomeKit. The C120 is fixed 2K with HomeKit, no siren. Choose according to HomeKit or siren.

Does HomeKit work without the eufy app? Once it's set up, yes. All interactions go through the iOS Home app. The eufy app is needed for the initial setup and to access full 2K or advanced features.

How discreet is it? Form factor 57×57×105 mm, ~104 g. It sits on any shelf or can be fixed to the wall with the bracket included. You practically don't notice it.

Does sound detection pick up a baby crying? Yes, with good reliability. False positives on music with children's voices are possible. Sensitivity is adjustable.
