eufyCam 2C: 1080p wireless outdoor camera kit compatible with HomeKit

The eufyCam 2C is the kit I started out with in home surveillance in the garden, years ago. It's dated as hardware (launched in 2020), but it is still one of the cheapest ways to get into HomeKit Secure Video with two wireless outdoor cameras. After three years of honest service, here's why it still makes sense for anyone starting from scratch.

Score: 7.7/10
Category: 1080p wireless outdoor camera kit compatible with HomeKit (2020 generation)
Test period: running in the garden for over three years
Price in Italy: ~€129–219 — check on Amazon
Review summary (for those in a hurry):
  • What it is: a kit of 2 wireless 1080p outdoor cameras with HomeBase 2 included, IP67, 180-day battery, native HomeKit Secure Video, no subscription
  • Who it's for: anyone who wants to get into HomeKit Secure Video at the lowest price and accepts 1080p and no advanced AI. Also a budget option for those just starting a surveillance system
  • Strengths: native HomeKit at a budget price, a genuine 180-day battery, rugged IP67, no subscription, complete kit with HomeBase
  • Real limitations: dated (launched 2020), 1080p only, no face/vehicle/animal AI, no colour night vision, no BionicMind with HomeBase 3
  • Verdict: 7.7/10. Available on Amazon Italia.
eufyCam 2C: 1080p wireless outdoor camera kit compatible with HomeKit Secure Video
The eufyCam 2C: a 2020 kit with HomeBase 2 included, 180 days of battery, native HomeKit. Dated, but still the cheapest way into HomeKit Secure Video.

2020 hardware in a 2026 market

Let's say it straight away: the eufyCam 2C is a 2020 product, and the specs show its age. 1080p Full HD (versus 2K/3K/4K on newer models), no advanced AI (no face recognition, no vehicle detection, no categorical animal detection), no colour night vision. The HomeBase 2 included in the kit doesn't run BionicMind even when updated: for that you'd need the HomeBase 3 plus new-generation cameras.

And yet, in 2026, the eufyCam 2C remains a coherent product. The reason is the price: on promotion you can find the complete kit (2 cameras + HomeBase 2) at around €130-160, which is less than almost any other HomeKit Secure Video option with two outdoor cameras.

HomeKit Secure Video: the real reason to buy it

The eufyCam 2C is one of the few outdoor cameras in the eufy line to support native HomeKit Secure Video. If you live in the Apple ecosystem, that means: end-to-end encrypted clips in iCloud, full integration with the iOS Home app, HomeKit automations (e.g. turn the lights on if there's motion at 10pm), and a HomePod as an audio receiver. No Eufy Cloud, no additional subscription: the iCloud+ plan you already have covers everything.

Newer models such as the SoloCam S340 or the SoloCam E30 don't support HomeKit. For native HomeKit in the eufy outdoor line, the real options are the eufyCam 2C, the 2C Pro (2K, a few euros more), or the 2 Pro (with spotlight). Full stop.

180-day battery: an honest claim

Eufy claims 180 days of battery life for the 2C, and over three years of real-world use it's the most conservative claim I've seen from a wireless camera maker. In my setup (10-15 triggers a day, two manual live views a week), the battery realistically lasts 4-6 months, after which you recharge it via micro-USB in about 6 hours. If you live somewhere with little traffic in front of the camera (private driveways, the back of the house) you may even exceed the stated 180 days.

1080p image quality

A 1080p sensor with a 135° field of view and black-and-white IR night vision up to about 8 metres. In 2026 1080p is the bare minimum for the category, and it shows: digital zoom beyond 2× visibly degrades the picture, and details at a distance (>10m) are hard to make out. For identifying "someone has come into the garden" it works. For reading number plates at 8m, definitely not. If you want 2K-3K at a minimum, the eufyCam 2C is not the choice — go for the SoloCam S230 (2K, no HomeKit, but native solar).

HomeBase 2: the mandatory "bridge"

The eufyCam 2C requires the HomeBase 2 (T8010) included in the kit. It isn't an optional component: the HomeBase 2 acts as a bridge between the cameras and Wi-Fi/HomeKit, and contains 16 GB of internal storage for local clips. The cameras talk to the HomeBase over a proprietary radio link (not direct Wi-Fi), which saves battery. The HomeBase 2 connects to the router via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.

An important point: the HomeBase 2 can't be upgraded to a HomeBase 3. They are separate products with different feature sets. If you have eufyCam 2C units and buy a HomeBase 3 for other cameras, the 2Cs keep running on their HomeBase 2 — coexistence is supported.

16 GB storage on HomeBase 2

The 16 GB on the HomeBase 2 is enough for about 3 months of clips with two cameras. Clips are saved at 1080p, and overwriting is automatic. For HomeKit Secure Video the story is different: clips go to iCloud and are kept for 10 days (standard HomeKit) or 30 days (with a suitable iCloud+ plan).

When the eufyCam 2C is still the right choice

In 2026, the eufyCam 2C makes sense for three profiles: those who want HomeKit Secure Video at the lowest possible price for two outdoor cameras, those already in the HomeBase 2 ecosystem who want to expand without changing hub, and those looking for a budget kit for a second home or holiday home where 1080p is enough. For anyone starting from scratch with a budget of €200+, the SoloCam S230 + HomeBase 3 combination gives 2K + advanced AI (but no HomeKit). Choose according to your priorities.

Frequently asked questions

Is the eufyCam 2C still worth it in 2026? Yes, but for specific profiles. If you want HomeKit Secure Video at the lowest price, it's the one. If you want 2K/3K and advanced AI, no — look at the SoloCam S230 or the S340.

Can it be connected to the HomeBase 3 for BionicMind? For storage yes: the HomeBase 3 can manage the 2C's clips. For BionicMind AI no: the 2C camera hardware doesn't support face recognition, and making the leap requires new-generation cameras.

Does it work with HomeKit? Yes, fully. It's one of the few eufy outdoor products with native HomeKit Secure Video.

Does the battery really last 180 days? In practice 4-6 months with average use (10-15 triggers/day). The 180-day claim is optimistic but achievable with light use (private driveways, the back of the house).

Can I add more eufyCam 2C units to the HomeBase 2? Yes, up to 16 compatible devices (eufyCam 2/2C/2 Pro/2C Pro).

How much does the basic kit cost? A kit with 2 cameras + HomeBase 2: list price ~€199-219, down to €129-159 in Black Friday/Prime Day promotions. Worth waiting for the deals if you're not in a hurry.
